Balls X Factor is a British Tengaged group music competition to find new singing talent, contested by aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. During their initial audition, judges will give them a 'yes' or 'no' regarding them proceeding through to the following round. Contestants must receive at least 3 of 4 possible 'yeses' in order to advance to the four-chair challenge. Prior to the four-chair challenge, contestants are divided into four different groups and assigned a mentor, one of the judges. Each mentor must pick 4 of their acts to remain on their chairs by the end of the competition and will thus advance to the live show segment of the season. The final 16 will battle it out week by week until our winner is eventually crowned.

Format[]

There are three main stages to the competition, these are:

  • Judges' auditions
  • The 'four-chair challenge'
  • Live Shows

These three stages are all very different. In the judges' auditions round, contestants perform and are simply either put through by receiving a majority 'yes' vote from the judges, or are eliminated there and then. If a contestant proceeds, they will then be in the 'four-chair challenge'. In this round, contestants are split into four different categories and assigned a 'mentor' - one of the judges. Each contestant will perform and then their mentor will have to decide whether they are awarded one of their four chairs allowed for their category, quite simply the four contestants remaining on chairs at the end of the competition will advance to the live shows. The live shows will consist of the 16 finalists and there will be 10 rounds. Each round there will be a different theme to which the contestant must meet for their performance, judges will score their performances out of 10 (they cannot however score their own acts, only the acts that they do not mentor) and the select number of contestants with the lowest scores from the judges will then face a public vote. This continues until the final, where a public vote will eventually decide who wins the competition.
